The Karl-Sudhoff Institute of the History of Medicine, an institution that started its activities on April 1st, 1906 in Leipzig (Germany) and that goes under this name since 1938, is the first of its kind to be established in the field of the history of medicine. Prof. Dr. med. Ingrid Kästner served in this Institute between 1983 and 2007. Quite a number of important research work bears Kästner’s signature. A meeting was organized to honor Kästner’s 65th birthday at the Saxonian Academy of Sciences on March 15th, 2007 and a book was published on Kästner’s honor.
