aDeontoloji ve Tıp Tarihi AD, İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi, İSTANBUL One of the major ethical discussion topics in Germany after the Second World war has been Euthanasia. At the beginning of 1970s, assisting suicide has been one of the major ethical problems. In Germany only active euthanasia has been legislatively organized. For assisting surcide, active and passive euthanasia, suggestions and court deessions exist. Legislations about active euthanasia exist in Holland and Belgium. In the past, euthanasia has been discussed very little in Germany, but it seems as if it will be discussed a lot in the future. Keywords: Medical ethics, euthanasia, euthanasia in GermanyTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Ethics 2006, 14:92-95
