Hastane Etik Kurullarının Tarihçesi, Yapısı ve İşlevleri Üzerine

aDeontoloji ve Tıp Tarihi AD, Uzmanı Almost everyday we encounter certain ethical problems in hospitals. In all these situations assistance is a rule needed to help and inform the patients. Elimination of the uncertainties involved important to improve the productivity of the work environment. The most effective way for the solution of the problems arising in such contexts is, apperantly, the estabilishment of ethics committees in the hospitals.
The main functions of the ethics committees in hospitals could be enumerated as follows: to form a milieu for education, to determine the management and financial policy of the hospital and to find solutions to the related problems, to clear the ground for the understanding of the disputed points created by the patients and their relatives, legal advice, to help determine the managerial and financial policy of the hospital.
It is possible to classify ethics committees according to the professions, to their functions and to the members they are composed of. There exist further ethics committees in hospitals serving different purpose, such as biomedical ethics committee, nursing ethics committee, surgical ethic committee and research ethics committee.
Hospital ethics committees are composed of special represantatives of different units of the hospital.
