The principle of respect of respect for autonomy is one among several important moral principles in biomedical ethics. The moral requirements of the principle has focused primarily on a negative feature: avoidance of controlling constraints, including not true-telling and coercion. However, the principle has clear positive implications when applied to certain relationship.
