aNöroloji Kliniği, SB Ankara Hastanesi ANKARA Ethical problems are common in neurology departments becase of high mortality. Status like brain death and persistent vegatative state usually cause difficulties between patient’s relatives and doctors.
First of all training of medical doctors during specialization in neurology departments does not include ethics. Secondly there isn’t any post-graduate programme on this subject too and most important of all, justice regulations are week and unknown. As a result every ethical problem have been solved according to physician attitudes. So we want to discuss ethical problems which we met during our practice. These are; “do not resuscitate” orders, brain deaths and persistent vegetative state. Keywords: Neurology, ethic, persistent vegetative state, brain death, resuscitationTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Ethics 1995,2-3:72-75
