aİzmir Emniyet Müdürlüğü Başhekimliliği Kurum HekimibHalk Sağlığı AD, Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, İZMİR In this research, data were collected from Public High School Students (n= 600), who were between 14 and 19 years of age. And this research was performed in the responsibility area of BORNOVA District Health Center in İZMİR City in TURKEY. A questionnaire, which was prepared to evaluate AIDS knowledge level was given to each of 600 students two times; first, just before AIDS education, and second, one week after AIDS education.
After the AIDS education program, the increase at the percentage of the students who had enough knowledge about AIDS, was found meaningful statistically. But the meaningful increase at the theorical knowledge of AIDS is not enough alone. The important point is that, the correct theorical knowledge about AIDS, should be used by the adolescents (young people) in their daily lives; and should affect positively the behaviors of young people about prevention of AIDS.Keywords: AIDS education, AIDS knowledge, youth and AIDSTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Ethics 1996,4:19-27
