The Directive For Practice Of Patient Rights: A Step To Putting Into Practice The Patient Rights In Turkey

aHasta Hakları İl Koodinatörlüğü, Sağlık Bakanlığı İstanbul İl Sağlık Müdürlüğü, İSTANBULbDeontoloji AD, Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ANKARA Patient rights were introduced with legal enforcements for the first time in our country with patient rights directives published by Health Ministry Treatment Services Directorate. “The Directive for Practice of Patient Rigts in Health Institutions” dated october 2003, and its renewed version, “The Directive for Practice of Patient Rights” dated April 2005 aim to put into pratice the patient rigths. Especially the latter was prepared to standardize and to spread the rights all over the country. With these directives, patient rigths were put into practice explicitly for the first time both for patients and for health workers. In this study, The Directive for Practice of Patient Rights of Health Ministry is introduced in relation to Statute of Patient Rights and evaluated according to principles of medical ethics.Keywords: Patient rights, principles of medical ethicsTurkiye Klinikleri J Med Ethics 2005, 13:203-208
