aTıp Tarihi ve Deontoloji AD, Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi, ANKARA Clinicians know that they should always tell the truth to their patients under normal conditions. There are clinical situations in which it is commonly supposed that the usual duty to disclose information may be abridged. Five exceptional clinical situations are discussed below: patient's wavier, patient's incapacity, medical emergency, therapeutic privilege and cultural difference. Keywords: Truth-telling, patient's waiver,
