How Do The Accounts Of Nonverbal Communication In Pregnancy And Birth Process

aDeontoloji AD, Osmangazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, ESKİŞEHİR The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the patient and the physician, midwife and nurse during the process of pregnancy and birth, and to seek nonverbal communication within this relationship.
388 people (49 patients in the informed group and 339 patients in the uninformed group) were interviewed about the pregnancy and birth process. 103 physicians and 254 midwives/nurses were asked to fill in the questionnaires composed of open- and close-ended questions within this research which aims at observing the relations between the medical staff and the patients. 83 physicians and 222 midwives/nurses replied the questions. The rate of participation was 80.58 % among the physicians and 87.40 % among the nurses.
After obtaining the required permissions from the institutions, the data were collected in 3 different hospitals and 14 small health units because the social security institutions to which the patients were affiliated were different 2 and t tests were used for the statistical evaluation of the data. Thus, SPSS 10.0 Program was used.
Enlightment in doctor-patient communication should be at a table biletarally. Female doctors contacts with their eyes and use active listening method better than male doctors.
Arrangement of the athmoshphere is important in communication.
