The Historical Development Of Pathology Department,cerrahpasha Faculty Of Medicine From 1967 To Today

Cerrahpaşa Medical School was established formally in 1967. Department of Pathology needed some time to function properly because of the following reasons: The Department had been functioning for a long time in İstanbul Medical School and after a very short time of the senate's decision of the division of the medical school Cerrahpaşa Medical School was established formally. During that perion, since materials were not sufficient and the Research Building was not ready, those properties were blockadges for the proper functioning of the Department of Pathology.
First, The department was located in the building which is now containing the departments of ?Physical Therapy' and ?Neurology' and then it moved in 1979 to the Research Building.
Education, autopsy, microscopic analysis of biopsies, research, conferances, routine services, photography and library began to function properly in a long time when the problem of staff got resolved meanwhile.
In this article, managerial and functional history of the ? Department of Pathology' will be presented, as well as its current operations.Keywords: Pathology, Cerrahpasha, History
