Home Care: An Overview

Home care services are supplying the health service and service equipment to the patient in their own living environment, in order for rehabilitating and increasing the health condition. Historical evolution of the home care services which has a dynamic progression starts in the Medieval Europe. These services, which have an important part in health services of the United States of America, European Union Countries, China and some other countries, have started to be run by private health institutions in Turkey. In this study, the concept of home care services, historical and philosophical progression related to this concept, advantages and disadvantages of home care services and present situation of home care services in Turkey are examined. When position of home care services in Turkey is analyzed, it's seen that there are problems that need to be discussed in legal and social aspects.Keywords: Home Care, Health Care, Healthcare Professional
