About Stem Cell Research

Embryo Stem Cells can obtain the embryos which in the early stages of development, and they can produce every cell type. They also have the capability of self-regeneration. If differentiation process of these cells could be controlled it can be possible to produce almost all kinds of tissues. That is important for especially tissue regeneration therapies. Resources for stem cells is at the center of the ethical discussion about stem cell research. Whether those embryos, which are necessary for these researches, must be protected as a human being or not, that is the question. From a point of view, these embryos are human beings, which have equal rights with adults or children, so they must not be killed. From the opposite view, they are some cell clusters, and equal with other human tissues, so research cannot be restricted. According to another opinion embryos do not have person rights, but they deserve a certain respect. Public funding support is also important for these researches, and whether these researches can be supported is also being discussed. Efforts for determining a new legislation and ethical guidelines for these researches is continuing in several countries.Keywords: Stem cell, Ethics, Embryo
