Objective: In this study the efficacy of the education given to the residents about the patients rights and their knowledge about this subject were tried to be determined.
Material and Methods: An interviewing form were prepared in which each item of the regulation of patients rights were the roots of questions and headings in these items were alternatives. Residents were compared among them according to the time elapsed from graduation, school of graduation and their future plan about where to work after the specialty.
Results: A hundred and forty seven (%54,9) residents out of 268 residents who had education about patients' rights were recruited in the study. After the evaluation of the collected data it was detected that who gives priority to get patients consent for medical procedures knows the publication of the regulation better than the others (X2 =13,594 P<0,01). It was determined that residents graduated in faculties of the three big cities gave more importance to the security of patients and persons with them (X2=4,884 p<0,05). It was determined that residents completed their graduation in the last three years were eager to reveal patients health expenditures sources than others. (X2 =5,409 p<0,05).
Conclusion: In conclusion about patients rights, other than having patients consent, ensuring the security of patients and persons with them and revealing the source of health expenditures there were no significant differences among residents. It is clear that detection of the reflections of cognitive gain to behaviors needs more comprehensive and detailed studies.
