The Contribution Of Mobile Foot Supports To Patient Comfort During Gynecologic Examination

Objective: In this study, the effect of a new-designed gynecologic examination table on patient comfort investigated. Method: The study is conducted in author's private office in 1999. 30 patients who were applied for gynecologic problems and applying first to a gynecologist's in their lives were included in the study. An examination table in which the foot supports connected to the main body by vertical hinges and which could be easily opened and closed by the patient on the horizontal plane is used. After all of the discussions about the present problem of the patients finished, their opinions about the examination table were asked.Results: 75 percent of the patients declared that the table is a good complementary to the patient comfort if the examiner behaves in an empathetic manner. Conclusion: Probably the main item to positively contribute to patient comfort during the gynecologic examination is the attitude of the examiner rather than the physical conditions.
