What The People Think About Organ Donation In East Anatolia?

One hundred forty six people were health workers (HW) and 155 people were not health workers (NHW). The questionnaire included questions reflecting public approach.Results: Individuals who know how to donate organ were 54% and 42%, rate of organ donation was 4.1% and 3.2% in HW and NHW groups respectively. Reasons for refusion of organ donation were fear 28.7%, relagion 17.1%, lack of confidence to physians 11.6% in HW group and these rates were 17.4%, 20% and 20% in NHW group respectively. Governal support and voluntary organization were thought to be effective in improvement of organ donation in HW and NHW groups, 73.9% and 60% respectively.Conclusion: People in East Anatholia were found to have little knowledge about organ donation.Keywords: People in East Anatholia were found to have little knowledge about organ donation.Turkiye Klinikleri J Med Ethics-Hukuku-Tarihi 2002, 10:34-38
