The Near History Of Medical Ethics In The West Andthe Socio-economical Reasons Of Its Popularity In Recent Years

Medical Ethics, or Bioethics as it has been called in recent years, is a popular field both in Turkey and in the world. As a field at the junction point of scientific and social side of medicine, medical ethics should very well organize and fulfil the duty of illuminating medical community. In this study we present the sociological and historical process of medical ethics in its birthplace. Our study indicated that both the new improvements in biotechnology and the age-old issues in medicine make it impossible to solve all these dilemmas with only medical knowledge.
