The population or the health workers are not take great care in these topic. Defining of the utilization rate of the patients' rights in population will contribute to the discussion of the subject.
This study was carried out to predict the actual status of the utilization rate of patients' rights among people, above 15-years of age, living in the Kütükçü 6th Primary Health Care area. A questionnaire was given to 150 people, selected by cluster sampling method from the population.
It is revealed that, during their contact with the physicians, only 67.3% of the subjects were had the opportunity to be informed about the diagnosis of their illness, 56.5% about the treatment and 24.5-68.7% about the examinations they had. Of the subjects, 31.3% were satisfied from the attitude of the health workers, and 49% had the opinion of that the physicians showed sufficient care to them. Less educated patients were more hesitante to ask questions concerning their diagnosis, treatment or examinations. Rates of the explaining of the aim of the examination, or the sufficient care, and of the satisfaction about health providers' behaviors were higher in those treated in the university hospital or private office. However, the rate of being informed was higher among the patients those applied to the social insurance hospital or primary health care unit.
It is concluded that, the utilization rate of patients' rights is not sufficient, mainly due to the inadequate attitude of either health workers or the attendees. Education of the population and the health workers in this subject may contribute to the utilization of the patient's rights. Keywords: patients' rights, health workers,
