The state of the worthfulness and the approval which individual arrives at, after the evaluation his self and capacity is called self esteem. This research was planned with the aim of determining the self esteem, the relations between personal values and self esteem and other effective factors on self esteem. of the students in Kocaeli Undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery school- just after the Earthquake of Marmara on 17th August 1999,when we spent quite hard days- as a means of defining and relation finding. Through this data, we aimed to direct the occupational and ethic education and guidance services of the students, that would increase their self esteem.
We considered that, as well as the mutual education and the professional ethics education which could contribute students to develop their skill of problem solving, critical thinking, and research abilities during their education; so that their self-esteem would be developed at an expected level.Keywords: Self-esteem, Nursing values, Students,
