The idea of constructing the medicine as a moral community and basing medical practice on virtues as trust, compassion, prudence, justice, temperance, fortitude, integrity is put forward especially by Pellegrino and Thomasma. Since then, the questions of what kind of virtues could contribute to the definition and achievement of good medical practice, or what kind of conflicts they could cause have been discussed in details. For this reason, we, have aimed to describe this new approach and start a multi disciplinary discussion in our country by examining the definition of virtue and what role it has in medical practice. Keywords: The virtues in medicine, virtues in ethics,
